OK, more like 25/75, but still awesome to slap on the grill. You'll need a food processor for this.
Ingredients
1/2 pound bacon
1 pound hamburger
1/4 cup chili-onion crunch from Trader Joe's (substitute 1/8 cup dried onions, 1/2 Tablespoon chili powder, splash of hot sauce)
Steak seasoning
1/2 half onion
Sliced cheese
BBQ sauce
Preparation
- Heat the grill.
- Chop up the bacon into quarters and blend well in the food processor. It will have the consistency of sticky tuna or deviled ham.
- In a greased bowl, mix the bacon and hamburger with your hands until well blended. Add the chili-onion crunch and mix well.
- Form into four equal, thin patties. They will shrink up considerably when they cook.
- Sprinkle patties with steak seasoning.
Cook
- Cook patties on grill until medium-well to well-done, flipping once.
- While hamburgers are cooking, slice up the onions and fry in a skillet with a splash of oil until golden brown.
Serve
Serve on a bun (butter it and toast it on the grill!) with BBQ sauce, onions and cheese. Check out the recipe on this blog for homemade curly fries if you're feeling fancy.
A Little Backstory
We saw this recipe on the Great Food Truck Race and decided to give it a go. We were NOT disappointed.
This recipe actually doesn't give the burger an overly bacon-y taste, but the bacon does give it a ton of moisture and flavor.
Feel free to top with more cooked bacon. Bacon makes everything better.
