You know not everything on this site is completely easy, but I always promise you it'll be worth it. This is both easy and incredibly elegant -- as well as yummy. As desserts should be.
Ingredients
- Berries, about 4-6 oz. per serving (I used blackberries, raspberries and strawberries -- blueberries would be great too)
- Sugar, 1 teaspoon per serving of berries
- A sweet liqueur, 1 teaspoon per serving of berries (I used Stroopwafel, but any non-cream type of dessert liqueur will do, such as St. Germain, Chambord or Amaretto)
Preparing & Cooking
Rinse and drain the berries. Mix gently in a bowl. Sprinkle with sugar and drizzle with liqueur, combine gently. Sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes to "marinate."
Serving
So many choices! Serve in a bowl with whipped cream. Or over shortcake or poundcake with whipped cream. Or over ice cream or gelato (the picture is berries with salted caramel gelato and basil). These lovely berries go well with most anything. As I'm fond of saying, you do you.
A Little Backstory:
I'm not big into dessert, but I will eat my weight in berries every day. I'm always looking for new ways to use the zillion pounds of fruit I buy, and if I can pour them over a steak, grill them for a side dish or mash them for a drink -- why not dessert more often?
